Amrita Yoga's approach is non-extreme, with a graded intensity that is appropriate to a person's needs and abilities. The objective of the training practices is to relax, energize and help you in self-development.
The school's practices and techniques are based on Ashtanga Yoga and Raja Yoga principles. The following techniques are used in its training sessions.
Breathing exercises
Dynamic loosening practices
Yogasanas (Yoga postures)
Relaxation
Pranayama (Yogic breathing)
Sonic vibration healing techniques
Cleansing techniques
The techniques that are used in a class are commensurate with the level of development and ability of the individual or group yoga practitioners.
The number of practices in each technique category are many. For example we focus on 35-40 Yogasanas; there are a similar number of breathing exercises and dynamic practices. While the Yogasanas and the Pranayama techniques are the main elements of a yoga practice, the other techniques are preparatory and auxiliary elements that are as critical and are integral to the practice of yoga.
